心は本当の知る者ではない

われわれはこれまでに、心こそは人間であり、知る者であると教えられてきました。
We have been taught that the mind is the man as well as the knower.

しかし心は一つの結果（現象）ですから、この教えは真理どころではありません。
But as the mind is an effect, this statement is far from the truth.

むしろ人間の内奥に”知る者”が宿っているのです。
Yet within the form of man lives the knower.

もし心が自らを謙虚にして、心が働きかけている万物にたいする観察者になるならば、心はいかに物事を知っていないかということにすぐ気づくでしょう。
If the mind would humble itself and become the observer of the form through which it works, it would soon realize how little it does know.

たとえば世の中には立派な人々がいるということに疑問の余地はありません。近年の新しい発明がこれを証明するからです。
i.e. There is no question in our minds that we have brilliant people in the world, for the new inventions in the recent years prove this.

エレクトロニクスの分野においても、行なわれている物事は奇跡といってよいでしょう。
In the field of electronics the things that are done could be called miracles.

宇宙空間のはるか彼方に打ち上げられて軌道をまわっている人工衛生の装置を地上から修正したり、カプセル中の人間と連絡する装置など、
Things like correcting instruments from earth that are many miles out in space, and talking back and forth with a man in a capsule orbiting the earth.

こうした業績は人間の心が意識の指導に耳をかたむけるときの心の可能性を示しています。
These accomplishments only show the potentials of the human mind when it listens to the guidance of consciousness.

しかし現在の人間の持つ知識のすべてをもってしても、人体を製作して生ける人間と同様の機能をもたせることのできる人はこの世に一人もいません。
Yet with all of the knowledge at present there is not one man in the world that can create a human form and have it function as we do.

しかし人体の内部には人間を作りあげる知識が内蔵されていて、それは子供の出生という現象において日ごとに示されています。
But within the form there is that knowledge which manifests every day in the birth of children.

これは無数の他の動物についても同様です。
Not to mention the thousands of other form creations.

したがって心は学ぶために深入りする必要はありません。
So the mind does not have to go far to learn.

心が人体内部にひそむ知識にたいしてみずからを謙虚にするならば、自分が働きかけている人体から何かを学びとることができるのです。
For it can learn from the form through which it works if it humbles itself to the knowledge within the form.

ここで「自分自身を知れ。そうすればすべてがわかるだろう」という言葉がどこから起こったかがわかります。あらゆる創造物はこの法則によって支配されているからです。
We can now see where the saying "man know thyself and you shall know all things" originated, for all creation is governed by this law.

これまで語られた真理で右の言葉ほど偉大な真理はありません。
And there is no greater truth than this that has ever been spoken.
